Senator Barack Obama is biracial. His father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., is from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, is a white American from Kansas.
Barack Obama was born on August 4th, 1971 in Honolulu, Hawaii. His parents divorced when Obama was two years old, and his father returned to Kenya. After her divorce, Dunham married Lolo Soetoro, and the family moved to Soetoro’s home country of Indonesia in 1967, where Obama attended local schools in Jakarta. In 1971, when Obama was was ten years old, he returned to Honolulu to attend a private school there and live with his maternal grandparents.
